The stereo in my work van is as boring and basic as they come — a raggedy old AM/FM radio that doesn’t even have a CD player. Upgrading to a new stereo simply isn’t possible and I find myself looking at my phone too much and for too long while driving which is neither safe nor legal.
This smart screen from Jataza is more than just a tablet as it turns any vehicle’s stereo into a smart stereo. Not only does the device come with a collection of built-in apps, but it also supports wireless CarPlan and Android Auto allowing all the most popular apps to work with it as well.
The most genius thing about Jataza’s design is how it connects to your car stereo. If your stereo has Bluetooth, you can connect the screen to your stereo that way. If it doesn’t and you have a 3.5mm audio jack, you can connect it that way as well. If neither of those options are available, you can also set the device to broadcast to an FM station and use it that way. The unit also has built-in speakers so you can use it even if you don’t have a car stereo at all!
Because this device’s screen is low and wide, you can mount it directly to your dash using the included mount and it won’t block your view of the road. The unit can pop in and out of the included mount allowing you to remove or hide it when parked. The back of the device has a 4k dash cam and included in the package is a wired rear camera that comes with a long extension cable. Like most dashcams, recording times are confirgurable and will record over old files if the SD card is full.
With your phone connected wirelessly to the device you can use most GPS and navigation apps along with most media players and podcatchers. You can also make hands free calls through the device with the calls coming from your car’s speakers.
The device is powered via an included 12v-to-USB-C cable that plugs in to any cigarette port. You can also use a standard USB cable to power the device.
