I was thrilled when a Converse store moved into our local outlet mall. I walked in due to nostalgia and walked out with a brand new pair of tennis shoes.

I’ve seen old black and white television shows with kids wearing Converse shoes. When I was a kid in the 1980s, neon-colored Converse — we’re talking orange, yellow, teal, and purple — were all all considered to be “radical.” When my kids were young I noticed Converse shoes were popular once again… and now, as a middle-aged man, I found myself buying a brand new pair of these vintage classic sneakers.

I currently have a few pair of these shoes in my closet. Along with black, and white, I also have these cool black ones with flames printed on them. Converse are available in every color, high and low top, and if you can’t find one that truly conveys who you are you can always decorate them yourself.

Converse sneakers are built better and more comfortable than ever. As a kid I would wear these things out after a year of skateboarding and basketball, but my white All Stars are five years old and are more comfortable than ever. These shoes give of a throwback vibe and modern taste at the same time.
