When looking for car mods I typically look for the following criteria: good looks, good functionality, easy to install, easy to remove. I’m typically when something I find meets more than one of these needs, and I was surprised to find that these grilles actually meet all four!
While washing my Tesla I was surprised to see just how big the opening was on the front air intake located near the bottom of the front bumper. The stock grille openings are large enough to insert my hand through, which is more than enough room for things like leaves, sticks, and other road debris to get sucked in. The backside of this intake leads to the front of the radiator, which means all of that stuff will eventually collect around your radiator, blocking air flow.
These custom grilles offer an inexpensive and easy-to-install solution to that problem. Attached to the back of the stylish honeycomb pattern is a metal mesh that will prevent anything other than air from entering your engine or motor bay. I honestly don’t know why the car isn’t build like this in the first place.
Installing the grille could not be simpler. The flat section comes with 3M VHB tape already attached and the grille section has four plastic tabs that snap on to the original grille. You can easily install these grilles in less than five minutes. If you decide to uninstall them someday, simply reach behind the bumper from below and push the tabs back through.
On a gray or black Tesla the grilles do not stand out too much but on white, red, or other colors they really pop. They could also be painted to give your Tesla a super custom look without modifying the original vehicle.
