For as amazing as a new Tesla is, it’s impossible to argue that the car’s interior was designed with form over function to a fault. The interior is sleek and smooth… and if you’ve driven one for more than a few days you’ll find your cup holders, door jambs, and rear floorboards filling up with trash as there’s just not a good place to put things like receipts and napkins. One week after purchasing my 2026 Tesla Model Y I began scouring Amazon in search of sensible and affordable storage add-ons. These trash bins, designed for the 2025/2026 Tesla Model Y (Juniper), are one of the most useful things I’ve added to my car so far.

JUST THE FACTS
These trash bins are made of ABS plastic and custom-designed to fit in the door of a 2025/2026 Tesla Model Y (Juniper). They come with lids that contain pop-open doors that make them nice to use and nice to look at. A strip of Velcro on the back holds them in place.
FULL REVIEW
The storage options in the center of a Tesla 2025/2026 Model Y (Juniper) are, frankly, ridiculous. The two storage options in the center console are so deep that any trash going into them is likely to remain there for decades. That leaves your cup holders or door jambs as the most likely place to shove receipts, napkins, and straw wrappers… for you and your passengers to see.
These trash bins seem a little expensive at $40, but hear me out — I use them every single time I’m in my car. Literally, every single time. Just having a place other than my cupholders and my floorboard to toss my trash makes them worth it.
The bins are made of ABS plastic and slide down into the car’s built-in door storage. Each bin has a strip of Velcro across the back to keep them in place but to be honest they fit so snugly that I doubt the Velcro is required. Each bin has a lid that snaps on, and in the lid is a spring-loaded door that pops open upon touch and latches when you close it. If you’re just putting paper in the bins, the easiest way to empty them is to just take the lid off, collect the trash, and drop it in a trash bin. If you end up with sticky or otherwise gross stuff, the bins easily lift out and can be taken to a bin to be dumped. That makes them easy to wash, too.
At first the design of the bins look a little strange with their sloped lid but once you install them, it all makes sense. The angle of the lid allows for a larger opening without making a bin that juts out into your leg space.
One thing I love about these bins is that they look like they came installed from the factory. The plastic matches my car’s interior perfectly, and the lines follow the car’s design.
WHAT I LIKED
✅ Look like factory/OEM part
✅ Convenient to use
✅ Simple to empty, clean, and remove
WHAT COULD BE BETTER
📉 $39 for two plastic trash bins seems a little high
SUMMARY AND LINKS
As a friend of mine often says, “I’ve paid more for less.” If I didn’t love and use these things every single time I climbed into my car the price might not seem justified. That being said, I love the look, feel, and function of these things so much.
